Called Hǫ·wa·ǫ·dá:nǫh in theCayuga language term for Sub-Chief, literally meaning “He Is the Watcher of the Log.” The log, or tree is the Chief who the Sub-Chief supports, delivers messages, and inform the people of council decisions.
