Also called the Dust Fan Belt, it represents the responsibility of the Chiefs to use a Good Mind to keep the Tree of Peace that was planted at the Onondaga Nation growing and prospering to ensure the Great Peace continues.
The second meaning of the Dust Fan Belt is one of clarity. The Chiefs are selected to sit and deliberate to make peaceful decisions for the betterment of the people and the unborn faces of the nation. At times, it may be difficult to see the best path forward. This belt is used to sweep away the dust from the Council so the leaders can see the best way forward.
