Oneganos (water)

(pronounced oh-nay-gaw-nohs)

The waters are here to quench the thirst of all life. The waters cleanse and purify the earth. The earth was created in a water world, where only water animals and water birds lived. It was the moisture in the fresh soils that helped to plants grow.

To maintain our relationship with water we hold it precious and express our gratitude through ceremony every time rain comes to the earth to replenish the fresh water. We given thanks to the water every time we gather for social, political or spiritual purposes.
