There is no single Haudenosauneenation. Being Haudenosaunee is to be part of a Confederacy of traditional nations, each assigned homelands and responsibilities to the maintain the general wellbeing of the collective.
The Nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy are divided into two divisions: Elder Brothers and Younger Brothers.
The Seneca, Mohawk and Onondaga Nations are the Elder Brothers, sometimes referred to as the Three Brothers.
The Oneida and Cayuga, who later joined by the Tuscarora Nation, are the Younger Brothers.
At Six Nations of the Grand River the Tutelo (Siouan speaking people originally from Virginia) sit with the Younger Brothers, who then are called the Four Brothers.
